We’re Delighted to Announce the Launch of Our New Online Shop!

To begin with, we’re offering master-grade audio downloads from a selection of Steve’s most-streamed albums at a great introductory price.

These albums, along with a special remastered edition of the single “Captains of Fate”, are available to download in pristine 24-bit audio, supplied directly from the mastering studio. The result is a listening experience that easily surpasses the quality of streaming services, MP3s and even CDs.

Why 24-bit Audio?

We asked our mastering engineer, Pete Minvalla, to explain why 24-bit audio makes such a difference.

“It’s all about dynamic range—that is, the difference between the loudest and quietest sounds that a recording medium, or indeed the human ear, can reproduce. This isn’t the same as frequency response or sample rate. Those are important too, but dynamic range has a greater impact on what you actually hear.”

“The human ear has a dynamic range of around 140 dB, which is remarkable. By comparison, the standard 16-bit CD offers around 96 dB of dynamic range, as do most compressed formats such as MP3 and ATRAC. A 24-bit recording has a theoretical dynamic range of 146 dB, meaning the quietest, most subtle details of the recording are preserved. The extra headroom also reduces the need for compression and limiting during production, resulting in a more natural, lifelike sound.”

To experience the full benefits of 24-bit audio, you’ll need compatible playback equipment and a good-quality hi-fi system or headphones.
